Growing up in the Portland, OR area, Erik Hjelt took his first piano lessons from

his grandmother. He started writing jazzy tunes spontaneously around age 12.

He was lauded at 15+ jazz festivals in high school before attending Whitworth

University in Spokane, WA. He played in jazz ensembles while studying music

composition there.

Erik Hjelt has derived inspiration from such notables as Dave Grusin, Lee

Ritenour, Fourplay, Quincy Jones, David Foster, Take 6, The Yellowjackets, Al

Jarreau, The Rippingtons, and Ivan Lins. These and other influences are

integrated cohesively into Erik's playing & writing.

Recent years have seen Erik throughout Colorado, with a regular gig at the

Kings Club at the Sonnenalp in Vail, CO, as well as appearances at the Ritz

Carlton Bachelor Gulch, The Arrabelle, The Four Seasons, and Harvest Vail.

He now resides in Denver.

Erik’s two albums, "Aspen Groove" (self-titled) and his latest release, "Divine
